In what’s known as an “other than full and open competition,” the Transportation Security Administration plans to procure Motorola XTS radios which can interoperate with the current Motorola radio inventory at many U.S. airports.
In a 100 percent small business set-aside procurement, TSA plans a competitive solicitation among small business sellers of Motorola XTS radios. The agency did not indicate the quantity of radios it intends to purchase, in a special notice it published online on August 17.
The new radios must offer 5 Watts of output power, operate in the P-25 Digital VHF Narrow Band of 136-174 MHZ, have 96 channels and offer “Over the Air Rekeying,” or OTAR, capability, says the notice.
Further information about the solicitation is available from Edwin Pasha, a TSA contract specialist, at 571-227-3569 or edwin.pasha@dhs.gov.
