RAE Systems Inc. has announced that Rosenbauer International AG, the world’s largest manufacturer of fire trucks and firefighting equipment, will integrate RAE Systems’ ATEX approved AreaRAE Steel, wireless gas- and radiation-sensor system, into its line of hazardous-material (HazMat) response trucks in Europe.
RAE Systems, headquartered in San Jose, CA, delivers innovative sensor solutions to serve industrial, energy, environmental and government safety markets worldwide.
Called the EMEREC information management system from Rosenbauer, the system provides advanced, wireless, toxic gas and radiation detection technology that links rapidly deployable AreaRAE sensors to a centralized database to give first responders and incident commanders new capabilities, such as access to up-to-date and relevant information directly at the incident scene and seamlessly share critical information with other units to facilitate real-time collaboration, says a press release issued by RAE on August 10.
“Rosenbauer’s EMEREC is the result of extensive collaboration that leverages our AreaRAE system to provide real-time, reliable and sustainable sensor data and alarm status to anywhere at anytime,” said Chris Hameister, vice president of European operations for RAE Systems. “EMEREC is a remarkable solution that easily provides situation-specific information at the incident location as it is needed, and we are proud to be part of the effort.”
RAE Systems’ AreaRAE is a ruggedized wireless multi-gas monitor that can be used to quickly establish an incident perimeter and allow first responders to monitor readings from up to approximately 1.5 miles (three kilometers) away. A built-in radio-frequency modem transmits real-time gas measurement data to a command center for up to eight AreaRAE or AreaRAE-compatible monitors, providing a multi-threat detection network that can monitor wide geographic areas.
AreaRAE is available individually or as part of a pre-configured rapid deployment kit (RDK) package.
The EMEREC collaboration also includes components and software from Airsense Analytics and Safer Systems.
