The Federal Aviation Administration has decided to award a sole source contract to L-3 Communications Cincinnati Electronics Corp., of Mason, OH, to supply infra-red and electro-optical cameras for the FAA’s Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, based in Oklahoma City, OK.
The Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) provides service and support to the U.S. Department of Transportation in general, and training, logistics, research, and data services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The FAA intends to negotiate a firm fixed price purchase order with L-3 for infra-red cameras, electro-optical cameras, pan/tilt platforms and a remote video surveillance system in support of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a unit of the Department of Homeland Security.
“L-3 is the supplier of the current fixed tower system and is in production of the required items such that they can meet the lengthy lead time and urgent nature of this purchase,” said the FAA in a presolicitation notice it posted on August 4.
