Federal agencies increasingly purchase Q1 Labs’ QRadar SIEM solution

It seems that the global economic crisis has not impacted every comapany, and that is good news. Q1 Labs, of Waltham, MA, announced on June 15 that it has seen a skyrocketing growth in its federal segment, as several government agencies have asked the company to enhance protection against cyber threats, help comply with federal mandates, and keep them updated with emerging technologies such as cloud computing platforms and virtualization.

Demands from federal customers have risen by 400 percent since January  – compared to an average growth of 150 percent per year since 2007 - which has led Q1 Labs to dedicate 15 percent of its sales force to defense, intelligence and civilian agency and sectors.

Q1 Labs’ flagship is its QRadar SIEM solution which provides the advantages of meeting critical security monitoring requirements tied to emerging technologies and federal mandates such as FISMA 2.0. Features also include monitoring the network and security infrastructure for transient and mobile networks, acquire geo-location aware security content to combat nation state hacking and cyber-warfare, combining complex event correlation with application layer content from the network in order to detect emerging threats and deliver real-time impact analysis and forensics.

The important growth also triggered Q1 Labs to hire Erich Baumgartner as vice president of federal operations, to oversee Q1 Labs’ government customers, partners and integrator business. Baumgartner had previously held leadership positions at security companies such as Raptor, Symantec, OKENA, Ingrian and Arxan.

“We’re doing exceptionally well in the federal segment and continue to see federal adoption of our QRadar SIEM and Log Manager to meet compliance regulations, protect geographically dispersed networks, and support operations with minimal staff and budget,” said Baumgartner. “Federal customers want to deploy advanced SIEM and log management capabilities as simply as possible; customer feedback indicates we have the most intelligent, integrated and automated SIEM on the market, and provide superior sales and evaluation support.”

Q1 Labs also developed partnerships with other providers to the federal space, such as Patriot Technologies, Merlin International and the Winvale Group.

“We selected Q1 Labs as a partner because our federal customers are looking for next-gen security intelligence solutions, as their needs are evolving,” explained Bruce Tucker, president and founder of Patriot Technologies.

“Next-gen technologies, like QRadar SIEM from Q1 Labs, are best positioned to enable initiatives such as data center consolidation, deployment and monitoring of virtual servers and cloud security solutions,” Tucker added.
