CLEAR will resume operations at Denver International Airport in Fall 2010

CLEAR, of New York, NY, announced on June 3 that it would resume its operations in Denver International Airport after being closed for a year. CLEAR is a biometrics-based identification platform which offers its customers an expedited passage through screening lines and service at the airports.
CLEAR had been hit by the economic downturn and had been forced to close in June 2009, leaving 200,000 members stranded. Since then, a new ownership has bought CLEAR and brought it back into business. The announcement of CLEAR’s availability in Denver International Airport this Fall is a noteworthy sign of CLEAR’s return to the market.
“With frequent business and leisure travelers, Denver International Airport is an ideal partner for CLEAR as we work to build our footprint and commerce operations this fall,” said Caryn Seidman-Becker, Chairman and CEO of CLEAR. “We look forward to working collaboratively with the Denver team to deliver first rate service to its customers.”
Passengers subscribing to CLEAR and flying out of Denver will be able to enjoy CLEAR services. Instead of waiting on the line where a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer checks passports against boarding passes to make sure that the names on these documents match, CLEAR users will be able to skip these long lines and go through a CLEAR identified lane. There, the passenger will find a mirror-like device into which he will look which will match his eye print with the one recorded and approved previously by CLEAR. From there, the passenger will be able to move to the security check-in at the X-ray equipment area.
People interested in CLEAR services should fill out a form available online and at participating airports. Once the form has been completed, applicants need to go to a participating airport for their fingerprint and iris scan. The device stores the image of the iris in its database.
At Denver International Airport, CLEAR technology will work with HSS Inc., a provider of specialized security services to screen and train employees. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded HSS with SAFETY Act Certification and Designation for its services.
