Petah Tikva, Israel-based Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. reports that it has received a multi-million dollar contract to deliver a turnkey broadband communications solution for a major defense agency in Latin America.
Neither the agency nor the amount of the contract were further identified in the company’s announcement.
The new network, based on its SkyEdge II platform, will be used for border control applications, Gilat says.
The platform will enable the delivery of high-speed data, video and voice applications that will serve the military's different units, the company says.
Gilat also will supply additional equipment as part of the turnkey solution, including solar panels for the remote sites.
