After reviewing competitive bids, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority awarded a contract in late 2009 to systems integrator Adesta, LLC to install a complete intrusion detection system along the existing western perimeter of the Washington Dulles Airport.
Adesta, in turn, selected Future Fibre Technologies, a worldwide supplier of fiber-optic intrusion systems, as its exclusive vendor partner for the Dulles installation.
Bill Evenson, Future Fibre’s vice president, said that, despite snow delays caused by the severe storms in the region this winter, the project is now nearing completion. Evenson said that the company’s Secure Fence system is ideally suited to airport installations because of its accuracy and the fact that it is virtually immune to nuisance alarms, which he credits to the company’s ARaD technology.
Future Fibre has completed hundreds of installations of its fiber optic intrusion systems, Evenson added, in some of the most hostile environments in the world. The applications have included data communications security, oil and gas pipeline third party interference detection and fiber optic perimeter intrusion detection systems for military bases, airports, petrochemical plants and refineries.
As a major systems integrator, Adesta, LLC , which is headquartered in Omaha, NE, provides industrial, commercial and government clients with an efficient single point of contact for their security projects. The company has deployed over two million fiber miles in more than 150 metropolitan and rural areas and has completed more than 1,000 large-scale electronic security systems in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Central America and the Middle East.
