Waltham, MA-based Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. has won a DHS / USCIS contract for over-the-phone interpretation services.
The contract, which the company expects to be worth approximately $7 million, includes one base year with four option years.
Lionbridge says it won the contract because, in addition to its DHS track record, it provides a wide range of language expertise, including the ability to support many rare languages, and qualified interpreters who possess security clearances as well as language skills.
As part of the agreement, Lionbridge will provide telephonic language interpretation services for aliens seeking asylum or protection from their countries while they are being interviewed by asylum officers.
Lionbridge will provide interpretation services in 24 required languages, with the capability to expand into more than 190 languages as needed, the company says.
