Jacksonville, FL-based Duos Technologies reports that it has won a contract, worth nearly $795,000, to deploy what it characterizes as an enhanced illegal-train-rider and contraband-detection system along the southwestern U.S. border.
The system provides real-time detection and tracking of illegal riders and railcar undercarriage inspection capability, Duos adds.
The contract was awarded by an entity Duos described only as a “major Class I railroad.”
The automated system will be used to conduct inspections of inbound trains and railcars crossing the Mexican / U.S. border.
The system can perform automated digital video searches of freight trains passing through a portal at speeds of up to 70 mph, the company says.
The system “puts an effective tool in the hands of railroad police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel,” Gianni Arcaini, CEO of Duos, said in a statement.
