HID Global's iCLASS smart card technology enables U.S. Bank's PayID

Irvine, CA- based HID Global reports that its iClass contactless smart card technology is a key component in U.S. Bank’s award-winning PayID card program.

The PayID card pilot program, which recently won the 2010 Paybefore Award for Most Innovative Program, included the iCLASS application, according to HID.

HID Global characterizes PayID as using a single, all-purpose card to provide contactless physical access to secure U.S. Bank facilities, along with contactless payments and traditional magnetic stripe purchases.

The company calls the Paybefore Awards the most prestigious recognition of excellence in the worldwide prepaid and stored-value card industry.

And HID Global describes itself as one of many companies that collaborated in the pilot program with U.S. Bank.
